What is the Common Dress of Indian Women?

 

The typical dress of Indian women is incredibly diverse, reflecting the country's rich cultural tapestry. India is known for its vast and varied geography and numerous ethnic and regional groups, each with its own distinct clothing traditions. Therefore, there is no single "common" dress for Indian women, but some clothing items and styles are widely recognized and worn across the country.

Saree

One of the most ubiquitous and versatile garments is the saree. A saree is a long piece of fabric, typically around six to nine meters long, draped elegantly around the body. It is paired with a blouse and a dress. Sarees come in countless materials, designs, and colors, making them suitable for various occasions, from casual daily wear to formal events.

Salwar Kameez
